Combining luxury, innovation, and sustainability:
the ambitions of Gainerie 91
by
Arnaud HAEFELIN
CEO of Gainerie 91
Gainerie 91, a leather goods company founded in 1967, was taken over in 2001 by Arnaud Haefelin, who expanded its scope of activity and embarked on its internationalization. Its mission is to enhance luxury brands by offering them attractive and eco-friendly packaging. It controls the entire process from design to delivery, including manufacturing, where others subcontract. With more than 600 artisans, four factories in France, Mauritius, China, and Portugal, and certified as a Living Heritage Company in 2012, it has a solid position with loyal luxury brands. Investing in eco-design and with a materials library of 1,000 materials validated by life cycle analyses, it has made sustainability a key part of its strategy. While luxury brands had relocated to reduce costs, we are now seeing a reversal of this trend, which Gainerie 91 wants to take advantage of by doubling its production capacity in France.
