This paper examines how innovation lab managers balance differentiation and integration over time through a longitudinal study of four units. The study identifies two undocumented paradoxical tensions and four response patterns—decoupling, conforming, promoting, and synchronizing—to enhance the practical understanding of structural ambidexterity.
