SUMMARY:13th SIG Design Theory Paris Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that the next design theory workshop will take place in Paris the 27th and 28th of January 2020.  \nScientific content of the workshop:\nWe welcome contributions in the areas of the design theory SIG:  \n\nDesign Theory and other disciplines: AI\, cognition\, engineering sciences\, data science\, biology\, physics…\nThe value of Design Theory for practitioners\nDesign Theory and Education\nDesign Theory and perception theory: reception and critic of design\, identity of objects\nDesign theory and the economics of design\n\nMore information on the Design Theory Workshop can be found:  \nhttps://designtheory.sciencesconf.org \nhttp://www.tmci.mines-paristech.fr/design-theory/ \nhttps://www.designsociety.org/ds_group/19/Design+Theory \nhttp://www.dailymotion.com/video/xxi9wu_design-theory_news \n\n\n\n\nSpecial sessions\nBased on the work done during the 12th workshop\, we will have special parallel sessions to discuss the following four topics: \n\nDesign theory and creation in philosophy and culture\nDesign theory and Artificial Intelligence\nDesign theory and cognition and psychology\nDesign theory and management\n\nOrganization of the workshop\nDifferent types of sessions will be held during the first two days (9am-6pm): \n\nSubstantial presentations (45mn-1hour) of ongoing research in the research areas of the SIG\nRound tables and/or open discussions on new approaches and emerging issues\nParallel workshops will be held to facilitate subgroup meetings on special topics or to discuss new research plans that could benefit from the cooperation of several SIG members and lead to new insights and co-publications\n\nFinal program and schedule: SIG Chairmen will compose the final program taking into account suggestions and proposals received from participants. Registration for the workshop is detailed below. \n\n\n\n\n4th SIG Tutorial on Design Theory (29-30-31 jan 2020\, Paris\, France) \n\n\nThe Design Theory Tutorial goal is to provide relevant\, inspiring and actionable knowledge to researchers looking to increase their knowledge and competencies in Design Theory. \nTarget audience is scholars\, especially PhD students and post-doc students\, who are interested in research topics related to design theory. The objectives of the session are: \n\nTo learn some of the foundational models used in design theory and research\, their relationship and the historical context within which they were proposed\,\nTo develop skills in applying a variety of design methods in various situations for different purposes – including for research\,\nTo interact with and learn from specialist researchers in the field to develop and refine their own research questions and to build future collaboration opportunities.\n\nAll professors of the tutorial are international researchers from leading labs working on Design Theory (Carnegie Mellon University\, Tel Aviv University\, Otto-von-Guericke University\, ORT Braude College\, Worcester Polytechnic Institute\, Pennsylvania State University\, James Madison University\, MINES ParisTech\, etc.)
