SUMMARY:3rd Interdisciplinary Innovation Conference The regulation and innovation nexus: new issues\, new perspectives
DESCRIPTION:3rd Interdisciplinary Innovation Conference \n The regulation and innovation nexus: new issues\, new perspectives \n17 December 2018 \nInterdisciplinary Institute for Innovation (i3) \n  \nConference venue: Mines ParisTech\, Espace Maurice Allais\, 60 boulevard Saint Michel\, 75006 Paris. \nRegulation connects to innovation in a variety of manners and with a variety of implications. The question of who regulates what\, how and how well when dealing with the processes that usually fall under the rubric of “innovation” intermingles with the question of how innovative\, viable\, useful\, prudent or virtuous are the measures\, standards\, rules and determinations that are usually referred to as “regulation”. This conference focuses on the regulatory challenges represented by new\, complex innovations and on the novel perspectives that they may open or be required. How are new technologies such as the driverless car tackled from a regulatory perspective? How are concerns such as privacy and discrimination addressed in new industries that rely on the processing of personal data? How is competition addressed in these and comparable cases? How is responsibility or liability defined\, assessed and monitored? These questions require an interdisciplinary dialogue between economic\, managerial\, legal\, sociological and anthropological perspectives. \nWe welcome you to download the presentations: \nSession 1: Innovation and regulation of innovation (Chair: Michel Nakhla) \n\nCollective invention and the role of transparency in the convergence to optimal solutions Jean-Michel Dalle (Sorbonne Université & i3-CRG)\, Yohanan Kasriel & Théophile Carniel\nBuyouts and Innovation Incentives Connie Lee (Cerna)\nCollective Governance of Innovation (Self-)Regulating Platforms in the Crowdfunding Sector Heloise Berkowitz (Toulouse School of Management)\, with Antoine Souchaud\n\nSession 2: Data and privacy (Chair: Fabian Muniesa) \n\nGDPR enough or too much forIoT Joaquin Ordieres-Meré (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid)\, with Alain Jeunemaitre\nThe Personalization-Privacy Paradox in Attention Economy Julien Cloarec (Toulouse School of Management)\n\nInvited session: Self-driving cars (Chair: François Lévêque) \n\nPrésentation Innovation et Régulation VA Remi Maniak (i3-CRG)\nMachine learning\, social learning and driverless futures Jack Stilgoe (University College London)\nAutonomous Vehicule and business model-VE Yannick Perez (CentraleSupelec & Université de Paris Sud)\n\nSession 3: Regulation and surveillance (Chair: Alain Jeunemaître) \n\nRegulating Innovation: Meta-regulation in Administrative Data Sharing for Research in the UK Stergios Aidinlis (University of Oxford)\nThe market of black boxes Russian industry of censorship and surveillance Ksenia Ermoshina (Citizen Lab\, University of Toronto)\, Benjamin Loveluck (i3-SES) & Francesca Musiani (ISCC\, CNRS/Sorbonne Université)
