The Interdisciplinary Institute on Innovation (i3) and the library of Mines Paris \u2013 PSL are hosting a joint event with \u00c8ve Chiapello and Alexandre Violle<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00c8ve Chiapello and Alexandre Violle will be presenting their book Sociologie des circuits financiers.<\/p>\n Alexandre Mallard, director of i3, will moderate the discussion.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Comment suivre l\u2019argent et rendre compte de son r\u00f4le dans la formulation et la mise en \u0153uvre des politiques publiques ? \u00c0 partir de la mise en place d\u2019un cadre conceptuel ambitieux, l\u2019ouvrage op\u00e8re une plong\u00e9e au c\u0153ur des op\u00e9rations mat\u00e9rielles et des infrastructures qui font circuler l\u2019argent.<\/p>\n Comment les sciences sociales peuvent-elles mettre en \u0153uvre l\u2019injonction \u00e0 \u00ab\u00a0suivre l\u2019argent\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0? Comment les circuits de l\u2019argent rendent-ils possibles tout en les contraignant les politiques publiques europ\u00e9ennes ou nationales\u00a0?<\/p>\n La sociologie des circuits financiers propose de croiser une sociologie inspir\u00e9e par les travaux de Viviana Zelizer et les infrastructures studies <\/em>afin d\u2019aboutir \u00e0 une compr\u00e9hension fine de la mat\u00e9rialit\u00e9 de la circulation de l\u2019argent. Une s\u00e9rie d\u2019\u00e9tudes de cas empiriquement fouill\u00e9es illustrent la f\u00e9condit\u00e9 de la d\u00e9marche.<\/p>\n L\u2019ouvrage donne acc\u00e8s aux mondes de l\u2019argent institutionnel, aux significations sociales et politiques inscrites dans les infrastructures informatiques, juridiques et comptables, et aux interd\u00e9pendances entre circuits financiers et politiques publiques. Les chapitres permettent d\u2019\u00e9clairer comment les politiques de l\u2019argent transforment \u00e0 la fois l\u2019\u00c9tat et le capitalisme.<\/p>\n Sociology of financial circuits. Money infrastructures and their policies<\/strong><\/p>\n How can money be traced and its role in the formulation and implementation of public policy be accounted for? Using an ambitious conceptual framework, this book delves into the heart of the material operations and infrastructures of money circulation.<\/p>\n How can the injunction to \u201cfollow the money\u201d be implemented by the social sciences? How do money circuits both enable and constrain European and national public policies? The sociology of money circuits provides a detailed understanding of the materiality of money circulation, combining a sociology inspired by the work of Viviana Zelizer and infrastructure studies. A series of empirical case studies illustrate this fruitful approach. The book provides access to the worlds of institutional money, to the social and political meanings inscribed in IT, legal and accounting infrastructures, and to the interdependencies between financial circuits and public policy.
