\nComment se porte l\u2019\u00e9conomie fran\u00e7aise\u00a0? Est-elle gripp\u00e9e\u00a0? En forme\u00a0? Des analystes saluent ses \u00e9lans de croissance, auscultent ses ralentissements, rel\u00e8vent les signes avant-coureurs de crise. Des indicateurs devenus familiers, tel le PIB, lui donnent sa consistance.
\nLa notion d\u2019\u00e9conomie nationale n\u2019a pourtant rien de naturel. Elle est le produit d\u2019un lent travail d\u2019institutionnalisation entrepris durant l\u2019entre-deux-guerres dans l\u2019espoir de redonner \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9tat une marge de man\u0153uvre, de lui fournir de nouveaux terrains d\u2019intervention.
\nL\u2019auteur explore le travail des \u00e9conomistes, statisticiens, repr\u00e9sentants patronaux et syndicaux, responsables politiques et administratifs qui ont accumul\u00e9 les preuves de l\u2019existence d\u2019une entit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique dont on peut mesurer les variations. Apr\u00e8s avoir servi de cadre privil\u00e9gi\u00e9 \u00e0 la planification, l\u2019objet primordial ainsi cr\u00e9\u00e9 a aussi r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 sa face contraignante, lorsqu\u2019en p\u00e9riode de crise l\u2019\u00c9tat subit l\u2019\u00e9conomie plus qu\u2019il n\u2019agit sur elle.<\/p>\n
\nHow is the French economy doing? Is it seized up? In good shape? Analysts hail its growth momentum, examine its slowdowns, and note the warning signs of crisis. Indicators that have become familiar, such as GDP, give it substance.
\n<\/span>The notion of a national economy is not, however, natural. It is the product of a slow process of institutionalization undertaken during the interwar period in the hope of giving the State room for maneuver and providing it with new areas of intervention.
\nThe author explores the work of economists, statisticians, employer and union representatives, political and administrative leaders who have accumulated evidence of the existence of an economic entity whose variations can be measured. After having served as a privileged framework for planning, the primordial object thus created has also revealed its constraining side, when in times of crisis the State undergoes the economy more than it acts on it.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i3.cnrs.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Miniature-i3_Seminaire-invites-du-CSI-450x335.jpg\")
