Sophie Houdart is a senior researcher at the CNRS and a member of the Laboratory of Ethnology and Comparative Sociology (LESC<\/a>, UMR 7186, CNRS\/Universit\u00e9 Paris Nanterre). Her main research interests are both the local methods and practices of construction of modernity in Japan and the theme of creation and innovation. Her current research focuses on air and soil measurements by which populations, sometimes far from Fukushima, assess, on their own account, the radioactivity content of their environment.
