For example, touch screens have made interaction more complex for people with visual impairments or upper limb tremors. Voice control, on the other hand, have made things easier for them.

Furthermore, incremental innovation makes products and interfaces increasingly complex. Technological overload creates cognitive fatigue (Thompson, Hamilton and Rust, 2005) which all users experience on a daily basis. In addition, this overload is costly for the environment. There is therefore an urgent need to return to the needs of users and the principles of universal design (Story, Mueller and Mace, 1998).

One way of encouraging actors to adopt new behaviors is through the implementation of labels or standards. Existing labels in the field of environmental protection proved their efficiency. Existing standards provide a basis for ensuring the accessibility of buildings. There is no equivalent for product accessibility.

Existing evaluation methods are based on user opinions (2002), which limits objectivity and comparability, or on a number of users excluded or disadvantaged by products (Keates and Clarkson, 2003), which does not give an indication of the quality of use for all.

To know more about this job advertisement

Post-doctorant
