It contains a long-term documentation on the multitude of scriptural forms that we rub shoulders with, produce and manipulate on a daily basis. Each double page, consisting of a photo and a short text, questions a graphic trace and the world it brings about, placing in the foreground the countless inscriptions that make the infraordinary frame of our lives. At home, in the country, at work, and of course in the city; on slips of paper, posters, furniture, screens, walls; on the skin, on the roads…: by playing on the accumulation of cases and the variation of viewpoints the books invites to pay new attention to the host of writings that forms one of the essential motives of the modern human condition.

Through the choice of papers, colors, and of the very organization of the book, the éditions Non Standard gave a new form to this thriving workshop, which first started on the Web. With its layout from the middle, the book does not display any names of authors (they only appear in the colophon of the book). In addition to the text/photo duos are added short theoretical supplements that point to varied disciplinary horizons, and a rich index of categories leading to as many paths.

Scriptopolis, the website, was founded in January 2009 by Jérôme Denis and David Pontille with Philippe Artières. Didier Torny arrived in 2011.
