SUMMARY:Seminar ‘Maintaining. Architecture and maintenance\, what we care about’
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nSeminar ‘Maintaining. Architecture and maintenance\, what we care about’ \nHere and now: time of third places\n \n  \nChallenging the temporal logic of traditional actors\, transitional urban planning puts maintenance and operation back at the heart of the project. Activating a place involves developing it\, ‘restarting the machine’\, and considering its sustainability. \nFor this new session\, the seminar invites itself to Césure to meet with the technical management of Plateau Urbain. For these experts in ‘making do\,’ the plasticity of places is inseparable from a renewed approach to ‘making things last’. The time of third places shifts the concerns of operators\, maintainers\, and users alike\, balancing constraint and flexibility. \n  \n\nDate: Friday September 12\, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. \nVenue: Césure\, 13 Rue Santeuil\, 75005 Paris – Room L’impasse  \n  \nParticipation is free but registration is required. Please register here.\nAttendance is limited. Kindly let us know if you are unable to attend. \nThe seminar will be held in French. \n  \nOrganized by architectural agency SCAU and Jérôme Denis.\nFind out more about the seminar program and objectives.

SUMMARY:Industrial Adventures seminar
DESCRIPTION:A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in physics\, then a PhD from Stanford\, Hervé Le Lous took over a discreet subsidiary of the Fournier group\, founded by his father\, with the ambition of making it a leader in supermarket parapharmacy. He launched it into food supplements\, and met with success\, notably with Juvamine. On the death of his father\, he took over the management of the Group\, sold Laboratoires Fournier and focused on Laboratoires URGO: wound dressings seemed to him to represent considerable potential\, provided he continued to produce the very best. Today\, this adventure has led to a world leader with 3\,500 employees. Passionate about teaching\, convinced that capitalism and humanism feed off each other\, he developed methods for creating\, growing\, managing\, deciding\, managing relationships and negotiating\, methods which he passed on to his employees and which he recorded in a book when he handed over the reins of the Group to his children. \n  \nRegistration \nFree registration –  Registration closes on Tuesday\, September 16\, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. \n  \n

He translated Gilles Deleuze’s “Spinoza and the Problem of Expression” into Italian. He is also the author of a novel\, “Le linee del mondo” (Manni Editore\, 2025). \nConference theme? \n Condemned by the Roman Inquisition to be burned at the stake in February 1600 for the heresy of his philosophical theses\, Giordano Bruno is an author who has since continued to question the most diverse disciplines: science\, the arts\, literature\, and poetry. In our presentation\, we will attempt to highlight the most innovative and daring aspects of his theories: the conception of an infinite\, material\, and pluralistic universe; the construction of an art of memory based on the principles of productive imagination; and the definition of a practice of magical bonds capable of profoundly transforming human relationships. The aim will be to reveal the coherence and power of a way of thinking that is more capable than ever of guiding us through the challenges of our contemporary world. \n  \nTo register\, click here \n

SUMMARY:The impact of energy-efficient home renovation policies: what do the data tell us?
DESCRIPTION:Energy renovation policies are at the heart of the news: MaPrimeRénov’\, passive heating\, CEE\, DPE… But are they really effective? Do they create jobs? Do they lower energy bills and CO₂ emissions? \nThe aim of this seminar\, open to all\, is to present the latest results of a research program conducted at École des Mines de Paris\, dedicated to the economics of energy renovation. Using a data-driven approach and rigorous evaluation methods\, we propose to shed light on the economic\, social and environmental impacts of these policies\, through presentations by the team’s researchers. \nAttendance is free but registration is compulsory at the following link \nProgram \n\n2:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.: Introductory remarks\n2:15 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.: An assessment of the Energy Saving Certificates scheme: Energy impact and avoided carbon costs; Matthieu Glachant\, Mines Paris – PSL\n2:45 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.: Why is there a shortage of skilled labor for energy renovation?
