La cohabitation forcée avec des résidus chimiques\, potentiellement toxiques\, est vectrice de contraintes fortes et de troubles\, mais elle n’empêche pas l’attachement aux territoires concernés. Cette cohabitation favorise d’ailleurs le déploiement de tactiques pour vivre avec le danger\, forgées par les riverains à partir de leurs perceptions et savoirs expérentiels… Grâce à une série d’enquêtes inédites menées à la fois en France\, par exemple dans le golfe de Fos\, mais aussi en Espagne et au Portugal\, l’auteure analyse les expériences quotidiennes des personnes qui vivent à proximité d’usines polluantes. Elle s’intéresse aux conséquences sociales et écologiques de la contamination chronique et aux changements de pratiques censés les contenir. Elle identifie aussi des pistes de récupération collective\, arguant que l’hybridation des savoirs experts et profanes\, via des expérimentations de métrologie participative\, pourraient permettre de définir des méthodes de régulation des risques environnementaux et sanitaires plus précautionneuses. \nLiving with industrial pollution. Forced cohabitation with potentially toxic chemical residues is a source of great stress and unrest\, but it does not diminish attachment to the affected areas. This coexistence is also conducive to the deployment of tactics for living with danger\, forged by the inhabitants of the area on the basis of their perceptions and their experiential knowledge… Based on a series of groundbreaking surveys conducted in France\, for example in the Gulf of Fos\, but also in Spain and Portugal\, the author analyzes the everyday experiences of people living near polluting plants. She examines the social and environmental consequences of chronic pollution and the changes in practices that are intended to reduce it. She also identifies avenues for collective recovery\, arguing that the hybridization of expert and lay knowledge through experiments in participatory metrology could help define more precautionary methods of regulating environmental and health risks.\n \nChristelle Gramaglia\, Habiter la pollution industrielle.
