In 1999, Sanofi sold its animal health and nutrition businesses, and fourteen executives acquired a portion of them to create Ceva Santé Animale through a management buyout (MBO). Eight years later, Ceva’s management and employees became majority shareholders, enabling them to launch a long-term initiative: promoting animal health and beyond, given that 70% of human infections originate from animals. Ceva has become the leading French animal health company and the fifth-largest globally, with a presence in 47 countries, 21 R&D centers, and 32 production sites. It specializes in three key areas: biology (vaccines), pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals (medicines and therapeutic treatments), and equipment designed to ensure the quality of vaccination.
